What does a Counselling/Psychotherapy session involve at the Orange Tree Clinic

You may feel uneasy at your first session and your counsellor will understand this. Remember this is the first step in making a happier life. Your session will be in a private comfortable room at the clinic. The counsellor will begin by asking questions to get a clearer understanding of your situation. They will then give you the opportunity to talk about why you have chosen to take counselling allowing them to understand the best options for future sessions. Many clients feel a sense of relief after their first session. This may be because the initial nervousness of the unknown has gone or because a weight has been lifted by beginning a process that will hopefully lead to a better life.

Who would benefit from Counselling/Psychotherapy

Counselling or Psychotherapy is available to anyone and can help with a variety of issues and disorders. Many people are worried about what will happen to them mentally should they start to explore their psychological make-up but your counsellor is trained to help you through this.

Homeopathy is a complementary therapy originating from ancient Greek tradition and has been used in the UK for over 200 years. Homeopathy is a therapy that aims to aid our body’s healing process by using diluted natural substances. Homeopathic therapy can help the immune system to deal with a number of acute conditions like sore throats and fevers to chronic illnesses such as arthritis and asthma. Some remedies are available over the counter and a pharmacist can advise you on specific ones for your condition.

What does a Homeopathy session involve at the Orange tree clinic?

During your first appointment your Homeopathic practitioner will ask questions about medical history, diet and lifestyle to understand your problem. The Homeopath will need to get a thorough understanding of your health and the exact symptoms you are experiencing, so that they can find a homeopathic remedy which matches you and your symptoms.

You will be asked many questions and some of them will seem strange for those not used to homeopathy. The practitioner is building up a picture of your unique make up, a bit like putting together a jigsaw puzzle.

Your first homeopathy consultation will take around 1 1/2hrs and will take place in a quiet private room. Normally a diagnosis will be made at the end of the session with a recommended remedy however for more complicated conditions the homeopath may need more time to make a diagnosis and will book you in for a follow-up appointment.

Hypnotherapy works by inducing a trance-like state within a patient in which they are fully aware of their surroundings but only concentrating on the hypnotherapist’s voice. It is different from sleep and closer to a relaxed state of wakefulness where breathing and heart-rate slows and brain-waves change. Once in a state of hypnosis, a person is open to suggestion from the hypnotherapist and able to take control over any involuntary thoughts, behaviour or feelings taking place in the sub-conscious.

What is involved in a Hypnotherapy session at Orange Tree Clinic

Your hypnotherapy will take place in a quiet and relaxed  and you will usually be sat in a comfortable chair. The hypnotherapist will begin with a consultation where you can talk in confidence about the issues or conditions you wish to overcome with hypnotherapy. During the first stages, the hypnotherapist may use relaxing music as they start to ease you into a hypnotic state but the main thing you hear will be their voice. Under hypnosis, your breathing and heart rate slow down and your muscles relax. You’ll be aware of only the hypnotherapist’s voice as they use visualisation techniques and beneficial suggestion to help with your problem. At no time will you feel out of control.

The number of sessions required with a hypnotherapist depends on your progress and problem. Five sessions is the average but some people find their problem solved after two. Your hypnotherapist will advise you throughout your therapy.
